Hulya is a social entrepreneur with a strong commitment to education and youth development. She has a university degree in industrial design and during her college years she participated in numerous international voluntary youth work camps in rural areas. After college she worked first as a teacher and then with Genctur Travel Agency, a business focused on providing young people with access to opportunities abroad. During this period she participated in the executive team of Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organizations. In 1994, she founded her own organization, initially to foster opportunities for young Turkish people to study abroad, and later to create the first summer youth camps within Turkey itself. In 1999 she joined the Turkish Education Volunteer Foundation (TEGV) as their Human Resources Director, where she developed a nationwide model and set up a network of local offices to manage volunteers contributing to educational initiatives in Turkey. TEGV has now become one of the most well known and respected NGO's in Turkey. Because she believes in importance of public relations she always had close relations with all kinds of communication channels. She has produced a radio program called “World through young people’s view” with which she aimed to show young people alternatives for developing their personality and skills.
Now she’s producing another radio program about voluntarism and social responsibility to make the community be aware of these mentalities and start a discussion about these issues.
