1420 Foundation
Back To List

Education has been universally recognized as a prime tool to give human beings around the world the abilities to collectively work out and implement the decisions that will lead to a productive and fulfilling sustainable world. All areas of the world and all human societies have valuable inputs to the pool of World Knowledge needed to achieve a productive, equitable, and fulfilling sustainable world of the 21st century.

The creation of collaborative global communities of learning has become, therefore, a fundamental necessity for, and component to, the proliferating number of sustainable development activities and initiatives. In April, 200, The 1420 Foundation for Sustainable Development Education commenced its mission to create such a collaborative global community of learning dedicated to the achievement of a sustainable world. The term "1420" (hydrogen’s spectrum frequency) symbolizes the foundation’s educational mission as a fundamental building block of the sustainable world of the future. (To see more about why we called our Foundation the "1420" Foundation, click here).

The 1420 Foundation is dedicated to providing constructivist learning programs that are centered around how knowledge can be used to further the goal of achieving sustainable lives and societies. It is therefore action-based, hands-on, experiential learning which seeks application of acquired knowledge, in both in-school and community-based projects. These learning projects will further "real life" sustainability goals for the participants and involve the economic, governmental and civic aspects of a society in its sustainable world learning initiatives.
