Habitat for Humanity (HFH) works with needy people to develop communities by building and renovating houses. By involving the community in every stage of the house-building process, HFH empowers communities to address their development needs. In this workshop Clive Rainey will discuss sustainable and practical building techniques. In addition, Mr. Rainey will share some of the secrets of HFH’s widespread success and effectiveness. According to Clive, “You break the cycle by building relationships.” “My job is coach,” Habitat identifies housing problems and solutions, then allows 20 years to eliminate substandard housing in each area. Each family must earn a certain amount of “sweat equity” before they can move in. In the US, this means working a set number of hours on the construction of their home.
