Sustainable Resources Launches World Beyond Borders Day With Focus on Global Understanding and United Action

International Leaders, NGOs, Non-profits, and Concerned Individuals to Explore their Synergy for Collective Action Worldwide

Boulder, Colorado—September 27, 2004--- The Sustainable Resources organization will launch World Beyond Borders Day on October 3, 2004 during its annual conference and exhibition at the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado. This landmark event will bring together organizations and individuals united in a “beyond borders” perspective.

It will enable participants to explore how collective strengths may be leveraged and concerted action may be taken to address world poverty, hunger, disease, environmental destruction, and escalating conflicts worldwide.

Mark Gerzon, author of Leading Beyond Borders and keynote speaker at the event, underlined the importance of the day's mission:

“To create a just, sustainable world, nothing is more important than being able to think and act across borders.   Whether our passion is protecting the biosphere or preventing war, we will succeed only if we have the passion and courage to cross the national, ideological, ethnic, and religious borders of our time.”

World Beyond Borders Day was created from the belief that a new mindset, a "beyond borders" perspective is needed to get to the root of such systemic, global problems as poverty, hunger, disease, environmental destruction, and world conflict. The day long event will first look at the work currently being accomplished by many "Without Borders" organizations, to be followed by a panel discussion that will address how these organizations' strengths can best be leveraged to effect real change. A final session will address an action plan.
